Iced Cold Matcha Tea Recipe

Ready to go in 30 seconds flat

OPTIONAL:
  • Try adding ginger or lime for a tart finish
  • Add brewed stevia, agave nectar or honey for sweetness

Scoop two almond shaped tea scoops into a martini shaker
Fill with ice and fresh filtered water
Add slices of lime (optional)
Pour over ice into a chilled glass and enjoy immediately

TIPS & SUGGESTIONS
  • Matcha tea does not technically “dissolve” but rather “suspends” in liquid. After a while, the tea will float to the bottom and your brew will separate with a green pond
at the bottom of your glass. The brew is still good. Just stir to refresh your drink.
  • Use best quality water and iced-cubes available.

matcha butter

Improvise with this recipe

Let the butter come to room temperature. Cube the butter and place in a mixing bowl. Sift matcha a little bit at a time over the butter. Blend well each time you add more powder. Continue until all of the matcha is incorporated into the butter and there are no clumps. When possible, choose butter made from grass fed cows which is higher in CLA, or conjugated linoleic acid. You can wrap your matcha butter in plastic or parchment paper and store in the freezer for future use.

Spread matcha butter on toast, muffins or crackers. Use it on oatmeal, corn, squash, pasta or any other place you normally add a drop of fat and flavor.

What will you need?

Whisk matcha tea in a bowl. Warm almond milk on low heat over the stove and add chocolate bits slowly while stirring. When chocolate is thoroughly melted combine hot chocolate and matcha. OPTIONAL: add MCT oil, cinnamon or honey.

Electric milk frothers, like a Nespresso or Breville, work really well here too. You can even combine all of the ingredients at once and press the button. Voila!

Remember there is no right, or wrong way to prepare matcha drinks. Try different ratios and ingredients until you get just the way you like it.

  • 1/4 cup organic blueberries

Sift matcha powder over yogurt and blend well. Then add berries and seeds and drizzle honey over the top. I always recommend organic berries when possible. This is a simple breakfast rich in antioxidants and nutrients.
